i'm the queen of the world!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I went home over the weekend and spent some quality time with my family. This included some one-on-one time with my niece, Evelyn, my sister's daughter. Ella and Evie adore each other, and over the last four years, have grown almost as close as sisters. For as much as Evie loves playing with Ella, it seemed she was happy to have me to herself for a couple of days.

Evie has an imagination like no other child I know. She can tell the most amazing story, you'd swear the characters and storyline were straight from a children's book. This weekend, I had the honor of becoming one of Evie's characters...

She adorned me with a handmade crown (sheets of paper held together by scotch tape), draped me in a beautifully woven robe (my mom's bed sheet), donned me with white silk gloves (from Homecoming of '97) and had me perch on my royal throne (a barstool). She crawled onto my lap and proclaimed us to the nations (my Dad, brother and sister), "Queen Amanda and Princess Evie!"

Our rule lasted all of one minute, until she crawled off of my lap and asked me to go play "hibernation" with her.

Fun! I love having alone time with my neices and nephews. I don't get it very often- except the few times when I babysit at my sisters house. It is so nice to be able to spend one on one time with them!

And look at you all cute in your crown!

How cute...and how great for your niece that she has such a fun auntie who loves to play with her like that! :-)

Thanks too, Amanda, for your comment on my blog and your prayers for our family! I can't even tell you how much I appreciate that! So, thanks!

And...great news about the start of room-sharing! Congrats and thanks for sharing that with me! How was night #2?? I hope that it went well for your girlies and that little Chloe is sleeping OK in her crib too!!!
